Need To Know
27th Street work starts today
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities says 27th Street from Calvert to Van Dorn streets is scheduled to close beginning today for water main installation, with additional lane closures from Nebraska Parkway to Laurel Street for concrete repairs. The work is part of the 27th Street from Nebraska Parkway to South Street Improvements project.
The city says the project is expected to run into summer 2027, weather permitting, and recommends a detour using Sheridan Boulevard, South 33rd Street, and Nebraska Parkway. If 27th Street is part of your south Lincoln routine, this is a route change to learn now rather than next week.

City posts storm-damage reporting guidance
The City of Lincoln reminded residents Monday how to report downed trees, limbs, power lines, and other damage tied to strong storms and high winds in the forecast. City crews clear debris from arterial streets first after damaging storms, then move to residential streets.
The city says debris blocking streets and sidewalks should go to the Lincoln Police Department non-emergency line, not 911. Street-tree damage and issues such as broken traffic signals or fallen street signs can be reported through UPLNK, while Lincoln Electric System says residents should stay away from downed power lines and report them directly to LES.

Plan Forward open house is tonight
Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning is holding an in-person Plan Forward public open house tonight at the Lincoln Commercial Club, downtown at 11th and P streets. The city says the Comprehensive Plan update is coordinated with the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan and the Lincoln Mobility Plan.
The planning page says the update is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and will shape long-range decisions on growth, transportation, housing, public investment, and land use. A virtual open house is also available through June 7 for residents who can't attend tonight.
