Give to Lincoln Day reaches its final push

Give to Lincoln Day is today, capping a monthlong giving window for Lancaster County nonprofits. Lincoln Community Foundation says gifts made during the campaign share in a $650,000 challenge match fund, with the final day serving as the annual "One Big Day of Giving."

The campaign has become one of Lincoln's larger civic giving days. Since it began in 2012, donors have raised more than $75 million, and last year's event raised more than $9.5 million for 502 participating organizations.

Nebraska softball opens WCWS play tonight

Nebraska softball faces Arkansas at 8:30 PM CT tonight in the Women's College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. Nebraska Athletics lists the Huskers as the No. 4 overall seed, Arkansas as the No. 5 seed, and ESPN2 as the TV broadcast.

The opener comes after USA Softball named Nebraska's Jordy Frahm its 2026 Collegiate Player of the Year, the first such honor in program history. It adds another reason for Lincoln to keep an eye on a late Thursday start.
