Need To Know

Severe storms could affect Friday evening plans

Friday starts warm and humid, with the National Weather Service calling for a high near 88 F and a chance of storms after 1 PM. The stronger planning window is later: the Storm Prediction Center placed central and eastern Nebraska under a slight risk for severe storms Friday afternoon into the night, with large hail, damaging winds, and a low tornado risk possible.

Local forecasts are most focused on the late afternoon and evening. If storms fire near southeast Nebraska, outdoor events, ballfields, patios, and the evening drive could need a backup plan. Keep alerts on before heading out, especially after 4 PM.
