Need To Know

Canopy and R close today; more street work follows

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities announced a set of closures that starts today and continues into next week, 10/11 NOW and KLKN report. The first one affects Canopy Street between Q and R streets and R Street between the alley east of the Red 1 Garage and Seventh Street for high school graduation traffic, with reopening scheduled Tuesday.

Four more closures or lane restrictions begin Tuesday or Wednesday on Adams Street, North 56th Street, and North 27th Street. If your regular route cuts across north Lincoln or the Haymarket, check the city's closure map before leaving and give yourself extra time around graduation traffic.

Storms today, then a warmer holiday weekend

The National Weather Service forecasts showers and thunderstorms for Lincoln today, with an 80% rain chance, a high near 70 F, and gusts as high as 24 mph. KLKN's latest forecast also points to storms Friday before drier, warmer weather returns for the Memorial Day weekend.

The better outdoor window starts Saturday, when NWS forecasts mostly sunny conditions and a high near 73 F. Sunday and Monday look warmer, with highs near 81 F and 85 F, so today's wet stretch is the main planning issue for weekend events.
